In 1968, Vintage Wine Cellar was created from an unexpected turn of events. Allen Kam, an executive at a California energy company, faced questions from his colleagues about why he wasn’t spending much on business dinners. His solution? Order a bottle of wine every time he went out.

What started as a simple fix turned into a love for wine. Allen became fascinated by its stories, the way it brought people together, and the richness it added to any occasion. When he returned to Hawaii with his family, he took over the family’s small grocery store and turned it into Vintage Wine Cellar.

For 37 years, Allen built the business with care and passion before passing it down to his son. Jay, who grew up helping at the store by wrapping bottles and making deliveries, now leads Vintage Wine Cellar with the same dedication.
